Thunderkick

Thunderkick is an up and coming Swedish game developer with a comparatively small game portfolio. They focus on making slots, and typically create very detailed and quirky games that stick out from the crowd. Thunderkick is not afraid to experiment with the classic slot format, and did for instance create a slot (Esqueleto Explosivo) that have the falling sugarscull craniums of undead mariachi players instead of spinning reels. Some of the games are classic 2D games, while others have a distinct 3D feel to them.

Naturally, Thunderkick has gotten on the HTML5 boat and put out excellent games that can be played on a wide range of devices, including touch-screen smartphones and tablets.

Since Thunderkick still has such a small selection of game, you don’t find any casinos onlines with only Thunderkick games. Instead, it is usually the really big casinos with games from numerous developers that chose to add Thunderkick to their library.

Examples of slots without traditional reels

Sunny Scoops Slot

This is the perfect slot for a warm and sunny day. Instead of traditional reels, you have scopes of ice cream falling down into three crispy cones. Moutwatering, colorful and really fun to play. How many scopes can you manage to pile on top of each other?

Esqueleto Explosivo

This slot is inspired by Mexico, and features sugar skulls and a mariachi band. The mariachi band consists of five skeleton guyes who are in town to play their music on the Day of the Dead. Instead of spinning reels, sugar skulls will fall down from the sky and pile up in five columns. Each sugar skull is beautifully decorated or wearing something special. When a winning combo is formed, the included sugar skulls explodes (hence the name of the game) so other skulls can fall down and take their place, making it possible for you to win again.

Turning Totems

Instead of traditional reels, that spin vertically, Turning Totems have five Native American totem poles on the screen. Each totem pole consists of three carved faces and is adorned with a carved bird. As you hit play, each carved face will spin individualy.

The carved bird is usually just decoration and will remain still during a normal spin, but if you are really lucky, they will start hovering above the poles, increasing your chance of a nice win.

When you win big, a happy Native American will dance a celebratory dance to the left of the totem poles.

About Thunderkick

Thunderkick was founded by a group who previously worked at NetEnt and who brought tons of expertise with them. When they combined their extensive know-how with their innovative game ideas, the result was splendid.

Thunderkick began to make waves in the early 2010s, a period when several other newly founded game studios were trying to get into the spotlight. Now, several years later, we can see that Thunderkick wasn’t just a flash in the pan; this game studio is still going strong and hasn’t lost their flare for the unexpected.
